ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana (KALB) – The Alexandria Police Department and Central Louisiana Crime Stoppers need your help in solving a September shooting.
According to Alexandria Police, on September 18, 2021 at 9:53 a.m., they received a call regarding a shooting in City Park near Masonic Drive.
“When officers arrived, they found a black man who was shot and killed under the flag near the jet ramp and all kid-friendly,” Lt Lane Windham said.
Lt. Windham said the victim was 31 years old. He was taken to a local hospital and police said he was recovering. The investigation began and the police began to develop leads.
“We are looking for a black man who did the filming. We have found a few avenues that we are working on at the moment. And, we are somewhat confident that we have a good suspect, let’s put it that way, bearing in mind that he could have done it, ”Lt. Windham said. “We’re still trying to determine if he was in the zone and follow the rest of the leads.”
The case remains unresolved.
Police said they knew City Park was a popular place for families. Lieutenant Windham pointed out that the shooting was an isolated incident. He also said that while they often get calls in the neighborhoods surrounding the park, they don’t get too many calls for violent incidents inside the park.
“As a police department, we try to maintain as much officer presence as possible in the city park,” he said.
If you have any information that could help the Alexandria Police Force resolve the case, you can contact them at 318-449-5099 or Central Louisiana Crime Stoppers at 443-STOP.
