APD tries to solve the November 2021 homicide on Futrell Street

ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana (KALB) – The Alexandria Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Central Louisiana need your help in solving a November 2021 homicide that occurred in the 4600 block of Futrell Street.

Police said they received a call around midnight on November 24, 2021, saying a red Toyota sedan had left the road and was against a tree.

“When the APD arrived, the officer got out and checked the vehicle and looked around, but saw nothing,” Alexandria Police Department Lt. Lane Windham said. “So he went back to his car.”

But, when the officer got to his car, he noticed a shoe in the middle of the road.

‘He went out and was checking and that’s when he saw the body across Futrell Street,’ Lt Windham said.

The victim has been identified as Kevin Hammond, Jr., 18, of Pineville. He had been shot several times.

“We know the victim drove his car there and when he got to that location he was shot multiple times,” Lt Windham said. “Apparently, from what it looked like, he crashed into one side of the road, got out, crossed the road before collapsing from his gunshot wounds.”

Police didn’t go far in solving the case, but they did share an important detail.

“We understood someone was with him,” Lt. Windham said. “That’s the person we’re trying to find out, who was that person that went to that place with him.”

If you have any information that could help Alexandria Police solve the case of the fatal shooting of Kevin Hammond, Jr., you can contact them at 318-449-5099 or Central Louisiana Crime Stoppers at 443-STOP.
