CRIME STOPPERS: Temporarily increased reward for 2015 homicide suspect

DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Police Department is looking for a suspect wanted in a 2015 homicide investigation that remains unsolved to this day.

DPD investigators need your help to find the person suspected of shooting and killing Daerius Rashaud Churchill seven years ago.

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers had a reward on the table for anyone who could come forward, anonymous or not, to provide information about this case and the whereabouts of the suspect. On Thursday, the organization temporarily increased that reward to $25,000 in a bid to close the case.

Therell Churchill said her plea as a mother is that someone will show up soon.

“I know it takes a lot and a lot of courage, but I’m asking anyone to help my son’s case get resolved because he deserves justice,” she told FOX31. Churchill struggles to deal with the loss every day.

Police responded in the early evening of January 4, 2015, to reports of gunfire in the area of ​​East Bruce Randolph Avenue and Steele Street. They located the victim and transported him to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The increased reward will only be available until July 19, 2022.
