ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana (KALB) – The Alexandria Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Central Louisiana need your help in solving a fatal December 2019 shooting of a man on Williamson Street.
It was just after 1 p.m. on December 14, 2019, when officers received a call from a man in the middle of the 400 block of Williamson Street. The victim was Marlon Chaney, 39.
“When the APD arrived, they found the man had been shot,” said Lt. Lane Windham of the Alexandria Police Department. “He had already been picked up by a passerby and taken to Rapides (Regional Medical Center).”
The police headed to the hospital.
“They found he had been shot several times and he ended up dead in Rapides,” Lt. Windham said.
Detectives got to work. They were able to find home surveillance camera footage in the neighborhood, but it wasn’t the best quality.
“All they saw was that there was a type of vehicle passing by moments before the shooting happened,” Lt. Windham said.
Police could not determine if it was a car or truck, but believed it to be a dark colored vehicle. The video revealed more.
“All those interviewed said they saw and heard nothing,” Lt. Windham said. “But, on the video itself, you can see exactly where the vehicle of whatever type has gone, you can see these people start running and pointing. So we know some of these people saw something, they just don’t come and tell us anything.
Lt. Windham said Chaney’s family still checks with them regularly. The police hope to do them justice.
