The Criminal Investigations Directorate arrests a couple in connection with the murder of a 3-year-old baby

The two men were arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) authorities in Illasit village, Kajiado County, near the Kenya-Tanzania border. They allegedly burned and tortured the baby in the presence of her six-year-old brother, Peter Ndung’u.

Once they found out David was dead, the two rushed to dump the baby at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital. The brothers had been in the care of Njeri, before their mother Maureen Njoki left the country for Saudi Arabia in November 2021.

Njeri received the news and announced it on social media, sparking outrage online with Kenyans demanding justice for the boy.

“Further forensic analysis conducted at the couple’s home in Kwa Maji area of Mowlem, Kamukunji sub-county revealed that the baby was killed in the house before being dumped at the morgue in Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.” noted DCI boss George Kinoti.

Detectives also seized a whip which was used to assault Peter. “After realizing the gravity of their actions, the murderous couple desperately tried to seek medicine from local pharmacies, but the little angel was long gone,” read a statement from the DCI.

An autopsy report said David’s body had severe burns to his hands, legs and buttocks. He also had new injuries to his neck, back and face.

The two suspects are currently being transferred to Nairobi where they will face trial.
