Uniform Patrol – Sandy Springs, GA

The Sandy Springs Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Division is the first responders to calls for duty in the city. The town of Sandy Springs is divided into nine patrols. These drives are patrolled by our officers who familiarize themselves with their areas and the communities they protect. Officers respond to a myriad of calls including vehicle accidents, ongoing crimes, traffic complaints, to name a few. The Uniform Patrol Division provides round-the-clock coverage by patrolling your neighborhoods, business districts, and highways. The men and women assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division are the backbone of the organization and are always happy to assist our citizens and those who visit the town of Sandy Springs.

The Uniform Patrol Division is commanded by Captain Vik. The Captain is assisted by four Lieutenants, who each command a patrol watch with their two Sergeants and officers.













Captain Norm Vik is the patrol commander. Captain Vik is a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a Sergeant in the Military Police. Captain Vik came to the Sandy Springs Police Department from the Hapeville City Police Department in 2007. His duties included Uniformed/Bicycle Patrol, SWAT, Field Training, Task Force DUI, the Serious Injury/Death Investigator, Criminal Investigations and Community Affairs. He received his Master of Science in Justice and Security Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officer Course at the University of Louisville. Additionally, in 2021, Captain Vik was appointed Commander of the Northern Metro SWAT Team.

JohnsonLieutenant Ronald Johnson is currently assigned as an A-Day Supervisor. He began his policing career with the Statesboro City Police Department. He then worked for the Fulton County Police Department for ten years before joining the Sandy Springs Police Department. His previous assignments include North Metro SWAT, Street Crimes Unit and as a Southern District Patrol Sergeant. He graduated from Georgia Southern University. He is the lead instructor for the department’s female self-defense class.

RomeroLieutenant David G. Romero is currently Evening Supervisor A. Sergeant Romero began his law enforcement career on March 1, 2000 with the Fulton County Police Department. Sergeant Romero is one of the first officers who started in July 2006. During his 20-year career, his assignments have included uniformed patrol, criminal investigations and special operations. He is currently the Crisis Negotiations Commander for two Crisis Negotiations Teams assigned to the North Metro SWAT Unit.

McNabbLieutenant James McNabb is currently assigned as a B-Day Supervisor. He was one of the first 86 officers who started with the Sandy Springs Police Department in July 2006. Lt. McNabb began his career in law enforcement with the Fulton County Police Department in 1999. His assignments have included Uniform Patrol, SWAT, Street Crimes, Community Relations, and Criminal Investigations. Lt. McNabb earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Georgia. Captain McNabb is a recent graduate of the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officer Course at the University of Louisville.

McNabbLieutenant Ryan Finley currently assigned as a B-party supervisor. He began his career in 2002 with the Fulton County Police Department and was a founding member of the Sandy Springs Police Department beginning in July 2006. Lt. Finley has spent nine years in the Criminal Investigations Division as a Detective and Field Training Officer before being promoted to Sergeant in 2016. Previous supervisory assignments include the Uniform Patrol Division, Property and Evidence Unit, the responsible for personnel inspections (including state certification/licensing), Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Investigations. Lt. Finley is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts and Science in Aerospace Administration. Additionally, he is a graduate of the 146th Administrative Officers Course at the University of Louisville – Southern Police Institute.
